To the budding designers.

So I am gonna talk about how to become an Interior designer I seem to get asked this question a lot.

First things first I truly believe you must be able to draw and sketch as this is first tool in sharing your vision and imagination.

This is a skill that cant really be taught as an innate talent should ideally be there. If you satisfy this criteria the next step is to enrol yourself in a degree or course or as an apprentice with a professional interior designer.

The next skills to acquire are the ability to create elevations and flats plans as well as understanding
colours and arrangement of styles. Over time you would develop your own style and grow in confidence.

I personally think a good understanding of mathematics in terms of measurements and scale always works in your favour when dealing with contractors and architects as you would find it easier to liaise with them.

My 3 key elements to remember are
-Respect your structure don't just go shopping.
-Balance is the key to all harmonious interiors.
-Always try to stick to not more than 3 elements when designing a room.
